Heritage Buildings in Glebe (2)

Hereford House
53 Hereford Street

The original Hereford House was completed in 1829 in what is now Foley Park (cnr. Glebe Point and Bridge Roads) and was demolished in the late 1920s.

This building was completed in 1874 for William Bull, wheelwright and son of marine in the First Fleet.

Bellevue (Venetia)
55-57 Leichhardt Street

Several plans for restoration and reuse of this house, which is owned by Leichhardt Council, have come to nothing.

Built in 1883, the house is the work of Ambrose Thornley jr. and is located in Blackwattle Park overlooking Blackwattle Bay.

Reussdale
160 Bridge Road

Reussdale, one of the most interesting and original picturesque Gothic houses remaining in Glebe, is thought to have been the work of architect Ferdinand Reuss. The house, completed about 1869, is now unused and in very poor condition with doors and windows boarded up.
