NEWS
A further Development Application (DA) has been lodged with Council for redevelopment of "Durham Court", 417 Glebe Point Road. Council received many objections from local residents against the previous DA for this property, and the owner has now submitted this new application. The full details of the application can be viewed here. Any objections against this DA close on 13th March 2012.

Our first social event for the year will be a Twilight Wine-tasting at the Glebe Rowing Club, Ferry Road, from 4.30 – 6.30pm on Sunday 25 March. Enjoy the last daylight-saving Sunday of the season and taste some beautiful wines from the Mediterranean and bar food from “Timbah” (Forsyth Street, Glebe). An informal occasion to meet with other members and friends.

"From Glebe to Antarctica". An illustrated talk by Grahame Budd, former Antarctic Medical Officer, about the explorer Mawson. There will be a short introduction about Mawson’s life in Glebe from a Glebe historian. This event coincides with the 100th anniversary of Sir Douglas Mawson’s Australasian Antarctic Expedition and the establishment of the base at Commonwealth Bay. Sunday 29 April 5.30 – 7.00pm, at Benledi.

Glebe Voices, a recent innovation for the Glebe Society, hosts a significant speaker each month or so to talk to members about their life, career, Glebe, or their life in Glebe. On 22nd Feb Ann Corthoys, ARC Professorial Fellow at the University of Sydney, will present a talk at Blackwattle Cafe, Glebe (Bellevue, at the bottom end of Leichhardt Street, Glebe). Her talk is titled: "Radical Glebe - People and Places of Significance in the Radical Movements in the 60's and 70's.

A public meeting was held on 4th Feb at St Scholastica's College Glebe. The meeting attracted over 100 residents to discuss community concerns about the Harold Park development.
