Dail has posted this photo of her grandmother ('Bubba') and great aunt (Ida) at school in the 1920s. Dail thinks the school is in Glebe. Can anyone provide more information? ... See MoreSee Less
This is a school photo of my Grandmother (Bubba written on photo), and my darling Great Aunt Ida (Ida written on photo), both in front row. My Gran was born in 1905 so I estimate the photo to be circa 1912. I have tried many times to identify the script on the slate at the front but no success. It would be a school in Glebe.
(My personal photo.)
A sad loss ... not many dwellings from the 1880s left. Although this house is in Marrickville and not in Glebe or Forest Lodge, it reminds us of the need for vigilance! ... See MoreSee Less
Council has given permission to demolish the 'Ferndale' cottage, at 119 Addison road for apartments. Built in 1880 (probably earlier), it is one of the earliest Marrickville cottages. That is 135+ years its been standing..Australia under white settlement is 230+ years? Another Victorian building to go. It looks like it has had a reno in the 50s or 60s, but. I wonder what it looks like inside? The chimney is original. RIP Ferndal
