The 21st Annual Glebe Music Festival

The opening concert of this year’s Glebe Music Festival will be at Gleebooks (49 Glebe Point Rd) at 7pm Thursday 28th October. The acclaimed Australian guitarist and graduate of Yale University, Simon Powis, has generously agreed to step in and play the concert at Gleebooks on Thursday 28th October at 7pm. Find out more about Simon at www.simonpowis.com The NOISE who were  originally booked for this event are unable to fulfil this commitment". Tickets $20/$10 include food/drinks.
 
The Margaretta Cottage soirée which includes fine food and wine (6 Leichhardt St, Glebe) is at 8pm Saturday 13th November. There will be performances by the internationally acclaimed pianist Ambre Hammond, the violinist Sophie Serafino accompanied by Lindsay Gilroy, and the soprano Donna Cain accompanied by Darren Saady. Tickets $40/$20.
 
There will be two concerts at St Scholastica’s Chapel (corner Arcadia Rd and Avenue Rd), both at 3pm. On Sunday 14th November, Bel a cappella under the directorship of Anthony Pasquill will perform Britten’s A Boy was born and Pärt’s Berliner Messe. Tickets $30/$25/$20. On Sunday 28th November, Coro Innominata under the directorship of Wayne “Sandy” Glass will perform a Sacred Drama, with works by Bouzignac, Charpentier, Mazzocchi and Carissimi. Tickets $38/$33.
 
This year, unfortunately, there will be no concert at the Great Hall. Instead, a new venue will be explored – the Florilegium Garden Bookstore at 65 Derwent St, on Thursday 25th November at 7-30pm with George Arnare (singing, guitar, harmonium, Appalachian Dulcimer), accompanied by violinist and guitarist. They will perform songs from the debut album Soul Volition. Tickets $10.
 
And by popular demand, a piano duo concert by Robert Weatherburn this time alongside Walter Shovk on a grand piano in the Old Court House (corner St John’s Rd and Talfourd St) at 7-30pm Friday 26th November. Tickets $15/$10.
