Preparatory work on the Pyrmont to Blackwattle Bay Waterfront Promenade is well underway. There is considerable activity in relation to the Bays Market District. A equest for proposals for the repurposing of the huge landmark and heritage classified White Bay Power Station was put out in October 2015. The heritage Glebe Island Bridge is at last included as a formal project within the Bays Precinct.  Read more »

UrbanGrowth NSW has produced its third public information glossy – The Bays Precinct Sydney Transformation Plan which provides some new information, although still mainly at the level of options or high level plans. This version identifies seven key action areas and it is of significance that these now incorporate Wentworth Park (long rumoured) and ‘working towards repurposing Glebe Island Bridge’(previously invisible) into the Bays Precinct project.  Read more »

The community campaign to defend the public interest in the State Government’s huge Bays Precinct Urban Renewal Project was the major ongoing Bays and Foreshores issue this year. An Inner West Transport Solution?

The inner West faces worsening traffic congestion with redevelopment of the Bays Area and Plans for WestConnex to feed vehicles onto the Anzac Bridge and Victoria Rd.
Yet there is a simple, low-cost way to reduce congestion in our neighbourhood: re-open Glebe Island Bridge as a level, broad, safe pedestrian link between Rozelle and Pyrmont.  Read more »

The bridge potentially offers pedestrians and cyclists a safe, level and picturesque alternative to the noisy and traffic-laden Anzac Bridge.  Read more »
