A very special event this afternoon that focussed on the role of women in the early days of the Glebe Society - 50 years ago. Our six panelists shared memories of Kate Smith who provided the social "glue" that united members, enabling effective activism. Kate was married to Bernard Smith, the Society's founding president.
After that, panellists shared their memories of getting involved to 'save' Glebe and make out a better place to live. We owe them a debt of gratitude.
Thanks to Asa Wahlquist for chairing, and panellists Jenny Pockley, Suzanne Tzannes, Jeanette Knox, Diana Tilley-Winyard, Dale Dengate and honorary founding woman, Max Solling. ... See MoreSee Less
