The footpaths of Glebe have become much less bare thanks to Council’s tree planting and verge gardens. However, the contribution of residents is still very important in the ‘greening of Glebe’. What’s more, the gardening efforts of individuals are naturally more varied, and sometimes more quirky, than the mainly uniform look produced by Council contractors and so add more to the visual appeal of our surroundings.

Some of our footpaths are quite wide and allow considerable scope for creativity, as in the example above from Lombard St. But even narrow footpaths can be enhanced as in the example from Mansfield St.

You are invited to send the Bulletin editor photos and a short comment about your favourite ‘green Glebe’ footpaths. Even better if it is something you have done yourself!
