 Love the Bay Run? Imagine a circular walk/run on our very own foreshores! The Glebe Society is proposing the Blackwattle Bay Circular Walk. Currently it is possible to do a loop from the Glebe foreshores via the Anzac Bridge, but there are too many places where you are forced to deviate along ugly roads – not to mention having to scale the massive Anzac Bridge! Imagine how much better the walk would be if it were foreshore all the way and included the gorgeous heritage-listed Glebe Island Bridge. The bridge should be returned to operation so it can once again be opened and closed, and used as a pedestrian/cycling pathway. Currently the bridge is being demolished by neglect – an absolute scandal! Check out the map - the blue line represents the proposed walk and the red line shows what is currently possible. What do you think? Like many organisations, Glebe Public School’s out of school hours care program, Centipede, is facing a cash crisis as a result of COVID-19. A further blow to their bottom line will result from the cancellation (for safety reasons) of the Friends of Centipede annual Soirée, normally held in November. A further blow to their bottom line will re...A pop-up cycleway is going in on Bridge Rd. City of Sydney says this cycleway forms an important link between the city centre and the inner west. It will provide access to health services, including Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and educational institutions such as Sydney Secondary College (Blackwattle Bay campus) and the University of Sydney. This cycleway will be a safe alternative to bus travel for commuters who would usually use Parramatta Road bus services. The NSW government changed its mind about the Powerhouse at the 11th hour. We want them to do the same about their ill-conceived plans for the Sydney Fish Market. |
