A fabulous community event held last Sunday - Glebe Society’s Christmas Gathering! Over 135 attended, including the family members of the children performing. The Land and Environment Court has approved the demolition of the former Remand Centre behind Bidura on Glebe Point Rd. Local views on this matter are polarised. Some see the building as a monstrosity that is out of place in Glebe. Others see it as having heritage significance as a good example of brutalist architecture. What we can all agree on, however, is that it's demolition will cause major disruption to Glebe, particularly Bidura's neighbours. UrbanGrowth NSW Development Corporation is describing Wentworth Park a 'Growth Centre' area. Despite recently changing Wentworth Park from orange ('growth centre') to green with orange stripes ('growth centre area (land)'), we're still worried. (see the pics).
